Rename and recolor accounts

Change how an account looks in Primail. Display name and color stay on this Mac. They do not change the IMAP login, and they are not copied to other devices.

  1. Open Settings → Accounts and open the account.
  2. Under Identity, edit Sender’s name.
  3. Click Save.

Recipients see this display name. The email used to sign in does not change. The same name appears in the sidebar and the compose From picker when the account is listed.

Color coding defaults on. When it is on, Primail tints the avatar ring and unread dot with that account’s color.

  • Master toggle: Settings → Appearance → Color coding for accounts.
  • Per-account picker: Settings → Appearance → Color coding (per account). Twelve named presets plus a custom color input.
  • Settings → Accounts → the account shows the current swatch only. It is not the picker.
  • Add Account confirm offers eight swatches. A later custom color from Appearance replaces that pick.

The account list is default account first, then email address. You cannot drag sidebar rows or reorder them in Settings. That order stays on this Mac.
