Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 8, 2026

This policy covers the website at primail.app and the Primail email client. Primail is published by Guangzhou StarStack Technology Co., Ltd. (“Primail”, “we”). Questions go to [email protected].

  • Primail does not operate a mail server for your accounts. Your mail travels between your device and your own mail provider.
  • There is no Primail account to sign up for, and no Primail cloud that stores your mail, your passwords, or your settings.
  • The app does not collect crash reports or usage analytics.
  • This website does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.
  • We do not sell personal information.

The site is a set of static pages. It has no sign-up form, no comment system, and no payment flow.

  • Hosting. Pages are served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical data your browser sends with a request, such as IP address, browser type, and the page requested, to deliver the page and protect the service. We do not combine that data with anything else to identify you.
  • Cookies and local storage. We do not set advertising or analytics cookies. If you switch between the light and dark theme, your browser saves that choice in its own local storage. It is not sent to us.
  • Search. The search box runs in your browser against an index shipped with the site. Search terms are not sent to us.
  • Fonts and scripts. Fonts and scripts are served from primail.app itself, not from a third-party content network.

Primail is a local email client. What it stores, it stores on your device.

  • Mail content. Messages, attachments, folders, and flags are fetched from and sent to your mail provider directly, over encrypted IMAP and SMTP connections. They are cached on your device for reading and search. They do not pass through a Primail server.
  • Credentials. Mail passwords and OAuth tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain on your device and are used by the local Primail processes to reach your provider. They are not uploaded to us.
  • Settings and local state. Signatures, smart folders, pins, snoozes, drafts, the search index, and the activity log stay on your device.
  • Diagnostics. The app has no crash reporting or usage analytics. Logs are local files. A diagnostics export is created only when you ask for one, and it reaches us only if you choose to send it.

Connections the app can make to other parties

Section titled “Connections the app can make to other parties”

These go to the named third party, not to Primail, and each is governed by that party’s own privacy policy.

  • Your mail provider, whenever mail is fetched or sent.
  • Google or Microsoft sign-in, if you add an account with OAuth.
  • Remote images in a message, only if you choose to load them. The request goes to whichever host the sender put in the message. Automatic loading is off by default.
  • Sender avatars, which can be looked up from Gravatar and Clearbit. This is on by default and can be turned off in Settings → Privacy.
  • AI tools you configure yourself. Primail’s command-line and MCP interfaces let an agent you set up read and act on your mail. That agent, and any AI provider key you configure, may send mail content to a provider you chose. Primail does not host an AI service.

What leaves your device lists these paths in technical detail.

If you email [email protected], we receive your email address, your message, and anything you attach. We use it to answer you and to fix the problem you reported. Our mailbox is hosted by Migadu, an email hosting provider. We keep support correspondence for as long as it is useful for supporting you and improving Primail, and we delete it on request.

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. The only parties that process data on our behalf are the website host and the email host named above. We may disclose information when the law requires it.

  • You can remove an account from Primail at any time. This deletes its local cache and Keychain entries from that device. Your mail stays with your provider. See Remove local accounts and app data.
  • You can ask us for a copy of, a correction to, or deletion of any support correspondence we hold about you by writing to [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local privacy law, and we will honor requests made under them.

Because we do not hold your mail, your passwords, or an account for you, there is nothing of that kind for us to export or delete.

Primail is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

If Primail’s data handling changes, for example if an optional sync feature ships, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
