Notifications & badges
Use Settings → Notifications to control badges and to test whether macOS will show Primail alerts. Notifications fire only while Primail is running. Primail does not bypass macOS notification policy. If System Settings blocks Primail, banners do not appear.
What you can set
Section titled “What you can set”- Badges — sidebar Inbox count, other-folder counts, and the app-icon badge.
- Test notification — Send test posts a sample alert so you can confirm Primail is allowed. If nothing appears, open System Notification Settings (or System Settings → Notifications) and allow Primail.
- Launch at login — start Primail when you log in.
There are no per-account banner, sound, VIP, or folder rules.
Badges
Section titled “Badges”Settings → Notifications → Badges:
| Control | Choices |
|---|---|
| Sidebar Inbox | New emails, or All emails |
| Other folders | New emails, or All emails |
| App icon badge | On (default) or off |
Turning the app-icon badge off does not silence OS banners by itself.
Sounds
Section titled “Sounds”Sound is not on the Notifications panel. Use Settings → General → Sounds:
- Play send sound
- Notification sound — play a system sound when new mail is posted. Default on. Independent of the OS Notification Center permission.
There is no built-in sound picker and no per-account sound.
When a notification is posted
Section titled “When a notification is posted”New mail, a due reminder, and a returning snoozed conversation can post a notification while Primail is running. Those are not extra Settings toggles.
